Successful Implementation of SEED2STEM Learning Mobility 1: A Step Forward in AGRO STEM Education

The SEED2STEM project, “Planting the Future of Education,” recently held its first Learning Mobility event, bringing together 16 partner representatives and youth workers for a three-day intensive program aimed at testing and refining the AGRO STEM curriculum and platform. The event marked a significant step in developing educational resources that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) within the context of agriculture and sustainable development.

Day 1: Testing the Basics of Programming Curriculum

The first day of Learning Mobility 1 was dedicated to the Basics of Programming curriculum, a collaborative creation by the University of Applied Sciences and ARYAS. Participants started by exploring the curriculum’s theoretical components, followed by practical testing of its content. The curriculum incorporates engaging non-formal education methods, such as storytelling, to make learning programming more accessible and enjoyable for young people.

The afternoon session was dedicated to gathering feedback from participants. Youth workers and partners shared their insights and suggestions, focusing on how to enhance the curriculum to better meet the needs of learners. Written reports from each national team documented their evaluations, providing valuable recommendations for future improvements.

Day 2: Hands-On Experience with the DIGITAL INCUBATOR Curriculum

On the second day, attention shifted to the DIGITAL INCUBATOR Curriculum, which was developed through the efforts of the University of Applied Sciences Zagreb, WALKTOGETHER, and Youth Eurasia. The day began with a presentation of the curriculum’s content, allowing participants to test various knowledge-based elements.

The afternoon provided a more hands-on approach as youth workers took part in constructing a digital incubator from scratch. This practical experience offered a deeper understanding of the incubator’s design and operations, illustrating how modern technology can be integrated into agriculture. As a result of this testing, participants provided constructive feedback, which will inform further curriculum refinements.

Day 3: Exploring the AGRO STEM Platform

The final day was dedicated to evaluating the AGRO STEM Platform, a digital tool designed to give youth workers access to the AGRO STEM curriculum, with future plans to include the IoT curriculum. Participants tested the platform’s functionalities and navigated its content, discussing its potential to support educational activities.

The main outcome of Day 3 was a series of feedback forms from each national team, detailing the usability and functionalities of the platform. Suggestions for enhancing the platform’s interface and expanding its features were collected, providing a roadmap for future development.

Moving Forward

The successful completion of Learning Mobility 1 represents a crucial milestone for the SEED2STEM project. The feedback collected throughout the event will guide the continued refinement of the AGRO STEM curriculum and platform, ensuring they are effective tools for empowering young people through STEM education.

The SEED2STEM project, funded by the Erasmus+ program, aims to promote sustainable development by equipping young people with the skills needed to engage in agriculture and STEM fields. The project’s innovative approach combines practical applications with digital resources, making learning more relevant and accessible.

🌍🌱 Learning Mobility in Romania Update!

Our #SEED2STEM project is underway in Romania! 🎉🌿 Over the past few days, 16 youth workers from Romania, Croatia, Turkey, and Bulgaria have gathered to test the results of our first two work packages:

🚀 Work Package 2: AGRO STEM Platform
🌱 Work Package 3: Basics of Programming & Digital Incubator Curriculum

Yesterday, our participants explored  programming basics, engaging in hands-on activities and providing valuable feedback. This curriculum was co-developed by the University of Applied Sciences in Zagreb and ARYAS NGO from Romania. 👏✨

• 🌿 What’s happening? In the first phase of development, we’ve been hard at work crafting a high-fidelity prototype for the AGRO STEM platform. This platform will be a game-changer, empowering youth workers to educate young minds about the transformative potential of technology in organic farming and promoting agricultural enthusiasm among the next generation.
