Since 2006, the Graduate Professional Study in Civil Engineering has been delivered as a part-time study program and has mostly been attended by engineers with professional experience to supplement their skills. Classes within this part-time professional master program were scheduled on Thursday and Friday afternoons and on Saturdays during the day because one academic year accounted for 1 semester. To allow our undergraduate students to continue to study and obtain a higher education degree as soon as possible, in 2015/2016 we introduced a full-time program option.
The Graduate Professional Study in Civil Engineering at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences if focused on the building profession – many of our students have already become proven engineers with relevant professional experience. We are particularly proud of our state-of-the-art Materials Laboratory where we conduct our own research and measurements of physical and mechanical properties of building materials
The program is arranged in courses/modules based on different specialties to be obtained by students on completion of the program. These modules are:
Building Entrepreneurship;
Infrastructural Engineering;
Environmental Protection in Civil Engineering; and
Building Engineering.
The duration of the Graduate Professional Study in Civil Engineering is two (2) academic years over four (4) semesters. On completion of this study program, the student will have earned 120 ECTS points and will be awarded the degree of a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering (M.Eng.CE).
Persons who have in the course of their studies earned at least 180 ECTS points in an undergraduate civil engineering program and obtained a Professional Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree (Official Gazette No 45/08, 87/09, 88/11, 61/12,144/13 and 50/15 – integrated list) or University Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Official Gazette No 45/2008) degree may apply.
Full-time students
Candidates who are not formally employed and choose to study on a full-time basis (2 academic years) may be enrolled as full-time students subject to required ranking. Persons who wish to enroll in the first year of their studies based on an enrollment notice and are entitled to be enrolled free of charge based on Enrollment Rankings, shall be exempted of tuition within the enrollment limit for full-time students.
Part-time studentsIn addition to candidates satisfying the above requirements, persons who have earned 180 ECTS points and obtained a University Bachelor degree in a relevant profession (Official Gazette No 45/08, 87/09, 88/11, 61/12,144/13 and 50/15 – integrated list) are also eligible. Depending on the examinations passed in the course of a candidate’s previous studies and the set of course he/she wants to attend as part of the Civil Engineering Professional Master Program, the Enrollment Committee may require that he/she take compensatory examinations that he/she did not take as part of the Civil Engineering Bachelor Program and the maximum that can thereby be earned is 30 CTS points.
